WHO WE ARE

YNYSOWEN KYOKUSHINKAI KARATE CLUB

Our club has been running for over 30 years and we are friendly welcoming club to everyone of all ages and abilities.

We provide high quality coaching with excellent standards. We have a high success rate over the years with World and European champions currently training at the club. With the two chief instructors. Shihan Dave Lundregan was the former Welsh and British juniors coach and Sensei Mike Woods is the current Welsh junior assistant coach.

Our students who train and or compete from our club develop increased self-confidence, social skills, discipline, improve mental health and well-being as well as physical development.

SHIHAN DAVE LUNDREGAN

6th Dan

Former Junior British and Welsh coach for 20 years. Active member within the organisation. Decades of experience and high quality teaching coaching many Champions to their success.

SENSEI MIKE WOODS

4th Dan

Current Welsh junior assistant coach, Sensei Mike has a vast level of knowledge and experience. He travels with the children to different countries throughout Europe offering his expertise and bringing the best out of the students throughout Wales.

SENSEI SAMANTHA WILLIAMS

3rd Dan

From training and competing as a child, Sensei Samantha focused on full contact fighting as a senior and has achieved titles including World and British titles. She has been competing since she was 9 travelling to many different countries over the world.

SENPAI GAVIN WILLIAMS

1st Dan

Senpai Gavin has been teaching at the club for the past few years and is a popular instructor to both the seniors and juniors. Not afraid to get stuck in too, Senpai Gavin passes on his knowledge and motivation inspiring you to get the best out of your session.

Senpai Jason is one of our newest black belts at the club and his dedication makes him a skilled and knowledgeable instructor. Senpai Jason has been training for over 20 years helping develop juniors and seniors within our club.

MAX WILLIAMS TAKES 1ST PLACE AT THE BELGIAN YOUTH KNOCKDOWN TOURNAMENT

Max represented wales and gained a lot of experience at his 2nd ever tournament coming away with a first place trophy. With a lot of hard work and dedication, Max has come out on top coming home with a first  place trophy.

OUR NEWEST BLACK BELT.

Big Congratulations to our newest black belt, Senpai Jason Roome. 

Senpai Jason completed a 5 hour grading infront of the head of the organisation Hanshi Steve Arneil 10th dan. 

Senpai Jason put in a lot of hard work and dedication to get to the grading and its a mark of his high standard and hard work that he achieved his Shodan.

DAFYDD ATTENDING SHIHAN JUDD REID SEMINAR

Dafydd attended the widely popular Shihan Judd Reid seminar held in Wales. Shihan Judd was one of the first Uchi Deshi's in Japan with a vast amount of experience to teach. Dafydd learnt a lot and we hope to learn off him and the new ideas he has from the seminar.

MAX KNOCKDOWN DEBUT IN SWITZERLAND

From representing Wales as a Junior Max entered cadet and decided to fight full contact for Wales in Switzerland. He did excellent for his first competition. He had some very tough fights and after a very long day, Max came 3rd which is a massive achievement for his first full contact fighting competition.

Trophies all round at the Scottish Open

TROPHIES ALL ROUND AT THE 2017 SCOTTISH OPEN

Congratulations to Sensei Samantha, Jason and Elis competing at the Scottish Open. Elis and Jason debut into knockdown they did not dissapoint with some great spirit and fighting Elis earned 3rd place with Jason narrowly losing out for 2nd place. 
Sensei Samantha also fought well claiming a 2nd place position on the day.
Well done all, you did yourselves and club proud.
